Fine Carpentry · Construction · General Contracting
BrightSpace Builders is an Asheville, NC general contractor specializing in residential renovations, additions, fine carpentry, and thoughtfully designed improvements to existing homes. Our work ranges from smaller carpentry and home improvement projects to full-scale renovations and additions.
Who We Are
Luke LaCava is the founder of BrightSpace Builders, a licensed contractor and carpenter with over a decade of hands-on experience in residential construction and architectural millwork. After graduating from McGill University with a degree in mathematics he began his career in New Orleans at a historic millwork shop building sash windows, doors, and other detailed architectural features before turning his focus to renovating and restoring the city’s historic homes.
He later moved to New England, where he focused on timber framing and modern, energy-efficient new construction, broadening his approach to craftsmanship, building science, and design.
After moving to Asheville in 2025, Luke re-established BrightSpace Builders, bringing together his experience in historic restoration, fine carpentry, and residential construction with a thoughtful approach to design and building.

What Makes Us Different
You’ll work directly with me, a licensed contractor and builder.
BrightSpace is intentionally small. From the first conversation through the final details, you'll work directly with the licensed contractor responsible for your project—not through layers of salespeople, project managers, and office staff.
Less overhead. More of your budget goes into the project.
Keeping our operation small means we don't carry the overhead of a large office or administrative staff. That allows more of your budget to go where it matters: skilled labor, quality materials, and the work itself.
Carpentry at the core.
We're builders first. Rather than managing every project from behind a desk, we remain involved in the work itself. That hands-on approach means the person responsible for the project understands what's happening in the field.
One point of contact.
You don't have to wonder who to call. Questions about design, cost, scheduling, or construction come to the same person responsible for making the project happen.
Our Process
01 — Tell Us About Your Project
Have a project in mind? Feel free to call, text, or email us—there’s no need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Whether it’s the beginning of an idea, a question about what might be possible, or a project with plans already in hand, we’re always happy to have a conversation.
If you’d rather start by email, send us a few details about what you’re thinking. Photos, plans, and inspiration are helpful if you have them, but nothing is required. There’s no commitment—just an easy first conversation about your project and where to go from there.
02 — Meet & Talk It Through
We'll schedule a time to see the space, talk through your ideas, and get a better understanding of the scope, priorities, and budget.
03 — Develop a Plan
Depending on the project, we'll work through the details, materials, design considerations, and costs needed to put together a clear plan for the work.
04 — Build
Once the scope and schedule are established, we get to work. You'll have direct communication with your contractor throughout the project, from the first day through the final details.
Let’s Work Together
If you have any projects in mind, big or small - please call, text, or email us—we’d love to discuss your ideas with you.
